Hey there!
I'm Angelica
Wellness Coach, Nutrition Consultant and Chef with a focus on healthy cooking techniques. I love problem-solving and in my work, I do this by helping you find what you want to improve in your well-being (psychologically, physically, or emotionally), identify what is in your hands to achieve your objective, and create a plan to reach YOUR vision!
Would you like to know more about me? Here is the long version of my story.
My journey

I was born in Colombia, and although it has been so long since I left my country (more than 20 years!), it is still a big part of what I am. Because of my husband’s job I have been moving to different countries about every 4 years. Through the years, I have been offering my services mostly online (even before 2020 when the online/remote working came to stay), and that’s how I have been able to continue with my career while moving around.
Be happy
My Purpose
I have always wanted to live a life in which I can find a higher purpose (e.g., volunteering, learning, etc.), but at the same time having an activity in which I can interact with people and positively impact them.

My career
I initially started studying Law in Bogota, as I dreamed of defending innocent people that didn’t have the means to hire a lawyer (yes, very idealistic of me!). But this dream changed when I met my husband and moved to Canada… I would say the essence of my dream stayed with me as I moved, but the “vehicle” to carry it forward changed as I knew that with our new lifestyle working as a lawyer would be a lot harder when moving from place to place. Therefore, I decided to switch degrees and started studying Psychology at the University of Calgary.
Be powerful
Nutrition & Wellness
Since I enjoyed good health, and during those years nobody around me was talking about nutrition or wellness, it never occurred to me to study nutrition. However, I think that life itself makes decisions for you and if it doesn’t make the decision, it will pretty much “show you” the way. So, in my case, my husband was suffering from an autoimmune disease that caused him severe symptoms and according to his doctor the future didn’t look good. So, we started digging into what was in our hands, so he didn’t have to rely on medicines forever. In doing so, I began learning about good nutrition, and started cooking most of his food. We started noticing that whenever he ate wholesome, nutrient-loaded food, he felt better and had no symptoms. That was our first aha! moment.
Be strong
Discovering my passion
This situation with my husband led me to find my passion for nutrition and how it can truly impact our health and body physically, emotionally, and psychologically. So, I decided to do my master’s degree in Human Nutrition.
During graduate school and while helping my husband to improve his health, so he could meet the demands of his job and perform in his executive role, we realized that although he was eating properly, there were some days in which he got flare-ups or symptoms (not as terrible as before, but still painful). And that was our second aha! Moment: the problem was not only the food he sometimes ate but also his stress levels and mental state. That’s when I realized first hand that having a good health doesn’t come from one single aspect (such as nutrition), but rather it’s the confluence of many factors: what you eat, drink, smell, listen, say, put in your body, the people that you interact with, your workload levels, your stress levels (too much or too little), everything truly has an impact in our health!.
My focus
Up to that moment, I had been focusing my career on the direct relation between nutrition and psychology. But after having my second aha moment, I decided to broaden my focus and have a holistic way of seeing health and wellness, in which I consider how your mind changes your body (i.e., stress levels, thoughts, feelings) and how your body changes your mind (i.e., food, activity, exercise). One of the differences between psychological therapy and coaching is that coaching usually aims more towards changing the present to get to our vision of the future, as opposed to therapy, which focuses more on the past. Therefore, I felt I needed to get coaching training, so I decided to go back to school and did an ICF (International Coaching Federation) certified coaching program in Spain and got my ICF accreditation. The result of this effort is what I do now as a wellness coach: help people discover which factors are in their hands, so they can improve their wellness (psychologically, physically, and emotionally).
Healthy cooking
Additionally, cooking more healthy meals for my husband to help him heal, helped me discover that I enjoyed it as a hobby. At the same time, during our sessions more and more clients started asking for my help in learning how or what to cook to implement their health professional’s recommendations to prevent or treat diabetes, hormone imbalances, or just to learn what actually “eating healthy” meant. This made me realize that even though I loved cooking, I didn’t have enough skills to help my clients cook their meals. As a result, I became a Chef degree at Le Cordon Bleu, which now allows me to offer healthy cooking consultancy.
